Dark Strike: Shadow of Ashbourne Preview

The shadows of Ashbourne are finally beginning to open.

After months of development behind the scenes, Dark Strike: Shadow of Ashbourne is preparing to officially launch as the first entry in the Dark Strike web serial universe under the Strike 7 Network banner. This story introduces readers to a darker urban world built around conspiracy, corruption, mutagen experimentation, organized crime, and investigative noir storytelling. While the Strike 7 Network universe has already explored supernatural horror through Bayou Blood and tactical vigilantism through The Black Ghost, Dark Strike enters the lineup with its own distinct identity.

At the center of the story is Ashbourne, Georgia, a massive industrial and transportation city sitting roughly between Atlanta and Savannah. Ashbourne looks modern and successful from the outside. Cargo moves through the city every hour of the night. Corporations continue expanding. Nightlife districts stay active until morning. Beneath that surface, however, hidden operations quietly shape the city in ways most civilians never see.

That hidden world becomes the focus of Shadow of Ashbourne.

The story follows Myra Jones, a private investigator operating out of a small office on Decatur Avenue. Myra is not a superhero when the story begins. She is an investigator trying to make a living in a city filled with corruption and secrets. Her cases normally involve fraud, surveillance, and missing persons investigations. Everything changes when Melissa Shields hires her to locate her missing brother, James Shields.

What initially appears to be a routine missing persons case quickly begins spiraling into something far larger.

As Myra digs deeper into James’s disappearance, she uncovers connections to Ashbourne Research and Defense, also known as ARD, one of the most powerful corporations operating within the city. The further the investigation progresses, the more Myra begins to realize that James may have discovered something extremely dangerous before vanishing. Surveillance begins following her. Armed individuals begin appearing around key witnesses. Entire sections of the city suddenly feel like they are being watched.

And then the Route 9 incident changes everything.

Without spoiling the major turning points of the story, Shadow of Ashbourne gradually evolves from an investigative thriller into something much darker and larger in scale. The story introduces the classified Project Phoenix program, a dangerous mutagen research initiative tied directly to ARD’s hidden operations. What follows reshapes Myra’s life permanently and sets the foundation for the entire Dark Strike universe moving forward.

One of the major goals of this story was to create a protagonist who feels grounded before the larger transformation occurs. Myra Jones is not defined solely by powers or spectacle. She is intelligent, persistent, observant, and emotionally controlled. Those qualities matter throughout the story because investigations, conversations, and atmosphere are just as important as the action itself.

The city of Ashbourne also serves as one of the story’s most important elements. This is not simply a backdrop. Ashbourne is designed to feel alive. Freight corridors stretch across the industrial districts. Corporate towers overlook aging neighborhoods. Cargo yards operate through the night while dangerous projects quietly move beneath public awareness. The atmosphere surrounding the city takes inspiration from urban noir storytelling, grounded crime thrillers, conspiracy dramas, and darker comic-inspired vigilante worlds.

The story also introduces several major characters who will shape the future of the Dark Strike universe.

Melissa Shields serves as the emotional catalyst that starts the investigation after her brother disappears under mysterious circumstances.

James Shields becomes the key to uncovering the truth behind the larger conspiracy tied to ARD and Project Phoenix.

Clay operates as one of Myra’s closest allies throughout the investigation and becomes deeply involved once the situation escalates beyond a normal missing persons case.

Sharon Jones, Myra’s mother, represents one of the few stable emotional anchors remaining in Myra’s life as events begin spiraling out of control around her.

Renata Cross enters the story as an investigative journalist whose role becomes increasingly important once the truth behind Project Phoenix begins surfacing.

The story also introduces several dangerous opposing forces operating within Ashbourne.

ARD stands at the center of the conspiracy, functioning as a powerful defense contractor with hidden research operations buried beneath its public image.

Crestview Protective Solutions acts as a private enforcement arm tied to surveillance, intimidation, and containment operations throughout the city.

Willie Payton quietly emerges as one of Ashbourne’s most influential underground figures, a man who understands the city’s criminal infrastructure better than almost anyone else.

And behind many of the story’s darker developments stands Dr. Xavier Walton, the scientist connected directly to the dangerous research surrounding Project Phoenix.

Visually, Dark Strike: Shadow of Ashbourne leans heavily into dark urban imagery and noir atmosphere. Rain-covered streets, industrial skylines, hidden facilities, rooftop movement, freight terminals, glowing city lights, and shadow-heavy environments all help shape the identity of the series. The eventual appearance of Dark Strike herself introduces one of the most distinct visual identities within the Strike 7 Network lineup, featuring the black bio-armor suit, flowing cape, a dark Lightning Strike emblem, and a darker urban vigilante aesthetic that defines the character moving forward.

At its core, Shadow of Ashbourne is about hidden truths.

It is about corporations operating beyond accountability. It is about dangerous research buried beneath political protection. It is about a city changing without realizing it. And most importantly, it is about a woman who uncovers something she was never supposed to find.

The release of Dark Strike: Shadow of Ashbourne marks the beginning of a much larger storyline that will continue expanding throughout the Dark Strike universe.

For readers interested in entering the shadows of Ashbourne early, Dark Strike: Shadow of Ashbourne will initially be available exclusively through the Strike 7 Network Patreon page for early access subscribers. Future public releases on platforms such as Royal Road and Scribble Hub are planned for later down the road, but for now, Patreon will serve as the home for the earliest chapters and story developments.

Ashbourne is waiting.

And the shadows are finally moving.
