Bayou Blood: The Awakening launches the Bayou Blood series, a monster-action thriller set in the fictional Louisiana city of Bayou Mounds.

After a catastrophic incident involving a secret military research project, the experimental Death Claw virus is released into the surrounding area. What was supposed to remain contained behind laboratory walls finds its way into the population, triggering mutations that turn ordinary people into powerful and dangerous creatures.

At the center of the story is Dr. Sheryl Brown, a physician whose life is changed after she becomes exposed to the virus. As unexplained attacks begin spreading across Bayou Mounds and its surrounding communities, Sheryl is forced to confront what the virus has done to her body and what she is capable of becoming.

But Sheryl isn’t the only person affected.

The Death Claw virus has created something new in Louisiana, and the people exposed to it won’t all respond the same way. Some will fight what they’ve become. Others may embrace it.

The Awakening combines werewolf fiction, science fiction, action, horror, and monster-thriller elements to introduce a world where the monsters aren’t supernatural creatures from ancient folklore. They’re the result of human experimentation gone horribly wrong.
